Know Your Rights...............

It's up to the employee to request that a shop steward or union representative be present during an interview that might result in disciplinary action.

When management wants to question or "interview" you, first ask what's involved. If the interview might lead to you being disciplined,

bullettell management that you want a union rep or shop steward present
bulletrefuse to answer any questions until a union rep is there
bulletrefuse to allow any tape or other electronic recording of the interview.

If management insists on proceeding with the interview, make it clear that you are proceeding under protest.

If you start the interview and become disturbed by the direction it's taking, stop and request that your union representative be present before continuing.

Remember these magic words: "If this meeting could in any way lead to me being disciplined or terminated or affect my working conditions,, I request that my steward or union representative be present. Without union representation i choose not to answer any more questions."
